Dear Friends,
Last week a new edition of the Southern Cone Media Meeting took place. We welcomed Shadyah Eid (Bolivia) and Martin Salvatori (Peru), who were recently included in UL SoCo’s team. The breaking news was Veronica Eichtersheimer’s transition from Initiative to Unilever (Uruguay). These changes leave us with the following structure:

The meeting was held between Initiative’s SoCo team and several Regional Media and CMI guests. The agenda was intense and very diverse:
On day 1 we focused on negotiation topics. In the morning we enjoyed the presence of a negotiation and leadership Coach. The idea was to provide the team with tools to find solutions in an ever complex environment (global financial crisis, media cartelization, State intervention, etc.). The gist is understanding that it is ONLY US who can face problems from a different perspective. In Albert Einstein’s words:
“The problems that exist in the world today cannot be solved by the level of thinking that created them”
In the afternoon, each country presented strategy and negotiation targets for 2010. All 6 countries (Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru and Bolivia) worked over the same

A real work gathering focused on training, strategy, exchange, innovation and integration. And, of course, a breathtaking venue is always a good incentive for teamwork!!

previously drafted format.
The Exchange was highly enriching since realities were quite similar in many cases while strategies were so different. Argentina was able to share the learnings from the cartelization conflict with open TV channels as well as the potential impacts of the Media Law passed by the Argentine government (further evidence of the government’s intervention in individual’s initiative).
At night we carried out an integration activity: a kitchen was the stage of a flight over the countries’ most singular flavors. The experience combines the interaction and integration of the participants and promotes the discovery of Latin cultures through the international flavors.

Several typical drinks were even prepared!!!!!
Day 2 was entirely about Project exchange and breakthrough Channel Ideas. We faced very attractive proposals led by the Regional Media Team and also each country presented 09’s most relevant ideas (soon available on Brain Bank and Media Bytes). Julieta Itzkoff, new Business partner for Media (CMI) was also present. She introduced us to the next Marketing Mix Model results.
There was also some time for a leisure activity. The Argentine duet (Pablo- Pomo) was victorious- with a little help because my partner (Pablo Rodriguez- Initiative) always provides good services to his Customers- even “letting them win”.

On day 3 we updated details for the implementation of the Media Lab in Buenos Aires. The idea is to use the Media Lab brand as platform for all training activities, led by Media and aimed at the Marketing community. We were honored with the presence of Mr. Luis Di Como, who updated up on both Regional and Global issues with the passion that defines him.
